15th March, 2002: Chairman GM8MRW

Alisdair GM3AXX gave an amusing and inspirational talk on previous work working with home-made equipment and antennas.
Recently he fault tested and repaired a small QRP (low power) transmitter belonging to Alan MM5AEK.
He described the previous antenna setups in houses lived in over the years, with humerous anecdotes to the troubles and successes involved.
We saw a video recording showing some of his more recent antenna systems. There were detailed scenes of raising and lowering antennas in his back garden, then a description and view of his radio shack. We saw some of his home made equipment, and the test equipment he still uses for making and repairing radio systems.
Aisdair is well known in the club for his experimentation and construction with old valve-based radios and antennas.
