16th November, 2001: Chairman GM7WED Jack, GM4COX, gave us a stunning talk on his recent expedition to the Falkland Islands. He had prepared some digital photographs and an excellent video, which was played through a computer projector. The 6m band has been active in the past week. Tom GM3EDZ, has been working stations on Ecuador, Colombia and the United States among others, a pretty good week's 6m working. Well done Tom! Tom has also been investigating the price of having QSL cards printed and despite relatively high prices for this service here in the UK, managed to find a very good supplier from Italy. Monochrome, two-colour and four-colour cards are offered, with the latter being about £32 for 1500 full size, laminated cards. More details can be found by emailing it9ejw@printed.it. John GM0WRR, has made the considerable achievement of earning the rare DXCC Century Award certificate. This is achieved by contacting (and confirming) one hundred countries around the world, and is arranged by the ARRL. Pictures of him receiving the award presented by mentor Tom GM3EDZ are available here. |
