On Saturday 15 September, John Power (GM0KTO) will be going on a sponsored organ recital tour, to raise funds for the 3-manual Lewis organ at Community Central Hall, (CCH) Maryhill. John is the custodian of this fine historic instrument, and has so far raised £1000. The first stage in the restoration project is to have a new 3-phase electrical supply installed. It has been decided by the CCH management to opt for pyrotech cable, which is copper-clad and fire-proof. Being of a narrower bore than traditional armoured cable, it will be less conspicuous, but will be stronger and less susceptible to accidental damage. The quote from a local firm comes to about £1200 + V.A.T. which will work out at about £1400.
