It
all began in about 1949 when I was a wireless operator/mechanic
in the RAF. After my service I applied for the ham licence and
having the force experience was able to obtain GM3HOM with only
the morse test, taken at the old GPO in George Square, Glasgow.
I've
also operated as VK5RC in South Australia and due to licencing
problems have only been able to listen as a short wave listener
in other countries.
Other
hobbies include holidays and gardening - I've plenty time for
both now I'm retired.
I
still listen to lots of morse code on the shortwave bands and
am most often active (transmitting) on the VHF bands.
I feel priveleged these days as now after 50yrs in the RSGB I
now get my subscription half price!
